    Attorney Mark Barnes is participating in the University of Toledo College of Law’s new diversity pipeline program, Launch Into Law, joining a professional mentor panel this week to speak about his career path and the doors that are opened by getting a law degree.  ‘Launch into Law’ is an immersive, 5-day experience at Toledo Law designed to prepare students from traditionally underrepresented groups for the law school application process.

  • Mark Barnes Top Jingle Bell Run Fundraiser Again

    Mark Barnes was recognized as the Top Fundraiser once again by the Arthritis Foundation for this past weekend’s Toledo area Jingle Bell Run. Mark raised $1,500 and placed 3rd for his age division in 25 minutes on Saturday morning, a considerable feat in the cold Ohio winter weather. The Jingle Bell run is the Arthritis Foundation’s signature annual event in which the community gets festive while racing to raise funds and awareness to cure America’s #1 cause of disability.

  • April Renner and Carl Habekost Present Safety Strategies and Claims Defense at Annual NWOSIA Medical/Legal Seminar

    On November 15, 2018, 8:25 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., the Northwestern Ohio Self-Insurers Association (NWOSIA) will host its Annual Medical/Legal Seminar at the Hilton Garden Inn Levis Commons in Perrysburg, Ohio.  The seminar has been approved for 6.0 CLE general credit hours and 6.0 CLE hours of Workers’ Compensation Specialty Credit. April Renner and Carl Habekost will be discussing safety strategies for prevention of injuries, and defense of claims when injuries cannot be prevented.

  • EEOC Public Meeting Recap: CHANGE WORKPLACE CULTURE TO PREVENT HARASSMENT

    The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) held a public meeting today entitled “Revamping Workplace Culture to Prevent Harassment,” held at agency headquarters in Washington, D.C. The Commission heard various approaches to prevent harassment and provide necessary skills and resources to respond when experiencing or observing harassing behavior. Subsequently, the EEOC released a bulletin regarding the public meeting.
