Executive Order To Improve Chemical Facilities’ Safety & Security

On August 1, 2013, President Obama signed an Executive Order aimed at improving the safety & security of chemical facilities around the country. Incidents such as the devastating explosion at a fertilizer plant in West Texas in April caused increased concern in the Administration. The handling and storage of chemicals present serious risks that must be addressed in the workplace. This Executive Order directs all federal agencies to work with stakeholders to improve chemical safety & security through agency programs, private sector initiatives, federal guidance, standards, and regulations.
