U.S. Supreme Court to Hear Same Sex Marriage Cases

On Friday, January 16, 2015, the United States Supreme Court decided to hear appeals from decisions in six cases from the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, which decisions found a state has the right to refuse to recognize same sex marriages from other states.  The decisions from the 6th Circuit are in conflict with other federal courts of appeals, and consequently, the Supreme Court’s acceptance of the appeals comes as no real surprise.  Same sex marriage may be the biggest constitutional issue since the Court redefined the legality of abortion in Roe v.
