Eight Workers’ Compensation Fraud Convictions In June; Social Media Helps

In June, the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation made eight fraud convictions, and according to a report to the Bureau’s board of directors, fraud investigations lead to more than $55 million in savings for the State Insurance Fund in Fiscal Year 2013.  The Bureau’s Special Investigations Department credits the use of social media such as Facebook and Twitter to notify the public of outstanding fugitives, anti-fraud efforts, and assist in recognizing and reporting fraud schemes and suspected fraud.  Click here to read more on the Bureau’s website.
