Using Social Media in Employee Investigations

Employers have found that social media provides a wealth of information in a variety of employee investigations.  Widely used social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram can give employers insight into an employee’s physical and emotional well-being, and realtime information regarding their activities both on and off work.  However, don’t overlook the potential use of activity tracking devices, such as Fitbits, as a means to confirm or refute employee physical limitations following the filing of a worker’s compensation claim.  Click here to read how law enforcement and insurance companies have used Fitbit tracking information to aid their investigations.
